Hello, Jessica Carpenter here. I am an independent artist living in southern Alabama. As a kid of the 80s and 90s, I grew up on a steady diet of fantasy, sci-fi, and horror.
Over time, my love for the human form and face blossomed, leading to a deep appreciation for figure drawing, and painting.
With this foundation, I seek to explore elemental shapes and concepts through ghostly figures and symbolism.
When not working, I enjoy being merry with people I cherish, especially my husband and our cats, who are amenable studio companions. I also love horror movies and coffee.
I received my education at VCUarts (BFA ‘18) in Communication Arts (Illustration), Richmond, Virginia, an experience I am eternally grateful for. I also received killer art instruction from Northern Virginia Community College (A.S. ‘15), Alexandria, Virginia. I am forever indebted to all of my teachers who have been a part of my life.
